What can you write about?

Review our Newsletter Checklist
(Word file)
and complete the activities listed under
Content Areas .

Publishing a newsletter is hard work, and can consume an extraordinary amount of time.

It's a challenge to come up with exciting content, then type, edit, copy and distribute the newsletter in a timely manner.

That's why it's good to find and print content that participants want to know (by asking them), as well as what they need to know (by consulting your fellow staff).

Once you know WHY you're undertaking the big job of newsletter creation, write down 2-3 objectives for each issue, then create an outline to make sure you are meeting your objectives as you proceed.

See the WRITE area of this tutorial for ideas on how to collaborate with others on newsletter development.

Some sure-fire ways to please participants:
  • Publish articles that parents can read with kids
  • Print recipes that kids can make using WIC foods
  • Include a coloring game or vegetable connect-the-dots puzzle
