A major benefit of WIC's TrainingWeb is that it offers a forum for state and local staff to collaborate on policy and document development and to share resources and opinions.

The Newsletter Workshop uses a combination of work sessions at TLC, Email communication for content development, and Web-based distribution and storage of work products.

Here's what's happening with the Newsletter Workshop:

October 22, 1999	Community Coordinators and other staff met at TLC for a repeat Newsletter Workshop training session. Attendees learned about the web-based newsletter production model being developed to assist local program staff in creating newsletters without doing all the work! They also shared "best practice" ideas they have used to communicate with participants, providers and staff, and brainstormed seasonal topics for inclusion in the winter, spring and summer newsletter archives.
August 28, 1999	The WIC Newsletter Workshop now has an Email-based discussion/communication forum (see above). Anyone with a WIC connection can join the WICNEWS forum. Through the forum, Workshop members can post messages and share ideas within the group and with others interested in our project. Sign up and receive mail by entering your Email address above.
August 20, 1999	The Newsletter Workshop Calendar is now available. The Calendar lists upcoming Workshop meetings, as well as Newsletter Production/Editorial schedules and assignments.
August 13, 1999	State and Local Program staff met at TLC to develop a Production/Editorial Schedule for Fiscal Year 2000. Attendees were principally Community Coordinators interested in producing newsletters for participants, providers and advocates. Check the Newsletter Calendar for information on future meetings. All are welcome!
May 28, 1999	Introductory Newsletter Workshop for WIC staff interested in developing newsletters. We discussed modifying the existing Newsletter Template that was developed last year. A goal was set to develop quarterly newsletter templates for customizing by each local program. A collaborative work session followed to brainstorm ideas around target audiences and seasonal topics. Target Audiences were identified as 1) Participants, 2) Providers and Advocates, 3) Local Program Staff. Seasonal Topics ranged from Farmers Market to Holiday recipes.
